Kristilyn is happy to offer bassoon lessons and music theory tutoring in the Phoenix area, including Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, and Scottsdale. Dr. Woods has more than 15 years of experience work with all ranges of abilities, from beginners picking up the bassoon for the first time to to advanced musicians interested in refining their reed-making and performing skills. Private Bassoon Lessons
Lessons are customized to your goals and needs - improve your technique while working on major and minor scales, beginner to advanced etudes, solo literature, audition etudes, orchestral excerpts, contemporary music and extended techniques, music theory, improvisation, and more. Available for students at any skill level.
Performance and Audition Coachings
Coaching sessions allow you to test-run your performance or audition material in a supportive environment before the big day. Improve your stage presence and learn strategies to overcome performance anxiety while refining your phrasing and technique. Available for any instrument.
Group Masterclasses and Sectionals
Attention junior high and high school band directors: do you need more bassoonists in your ensemble? I'd love to stop by your school and speak with a group of students about switching to bassoon from another instrument. I'm also available for band and orchestral literature sectionals as well as group coaching for regional and all-state audition materials
Chamber Music Coaching
Coaching sessions address ensemble cohesion through intonation and musicality and are available for student and adult pre-formed chamber groups.
Reed Making Lessons
Available for beginners to advanced reed-makers as group classes or individual lessons.
REEDS FOR SALE
Bassoon reeds are available for purchase as blanks or completed reeds. Current private lesson students receive a discount on reed prices. Please note there is a one-week turnaround time from placing the order to a completed reed. Available for pickup in Phoenix, or reeds can be shipped to you.
